Superintendent's Message
As summer begins to wind down, there is a growing sense of excitement across Mary Walker School District. Classrooms are being prepared, buses are getting ready to roll, new staff members are joining our Charger family, and our dedicated teachers and support staff are eagerly anticipating the return of students. The start of a new school year always brings renewed energy, fresh opportunities, and the promise of what we can accomplish together.
Before looking ahead, I want to thank our families, community members, and voters for the tremendous support shown through the passage of our Educational Programs and Operations (EP&O) Levy this past February. Your investment reflects a deep commitment to the students of Mary Walker and the future of our community. While these funds will not begin supporting our schools until next year, the confidence you placed in our district allows us to continue planning for the future with optimism and purpose.
As we begin the 2026-2027 school year, our focus remains clear. We are committed to ensuring every student experiences high-quality learning, meaningful relationships, and opportunities that prepare them for success beyond graduation. Whether a student chooses college, military service, technical training, or enters the workforce, our responsibility is to help each graduate leave Mary Walker with the knowledge, skills, confidence, and character needed for the next chapter of life.
This year we will continue strengthening our work through Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) by focusing on high-quality instruction, essential learning standards, and ensuring every student receives the support they need to be successful. We also remain committed to developing leadership capacity throughout our district by empowering teachers, support staff, principals, coaches, advisors, and student leaders to make a positive difference every day.
One of the many things that makes Mary Walker special is the opportunities available beyond the classroom. Athletics, fine arts, clubs, Career and Technical Education, leadership activities, and service learning all play an important role in helping students discover their passions, build confidence, and develop lifelong skills. These experiences strengthen our school community and create lasting memories for our students.
Our theme for the 2026-2027 school year is A Sense of Belonging. Every student deserves to know they are valued, respected, and connected. Every staff member deserves to feel supported as part of a team working toward a common purpose. When students and adults experience a true sense of belonging, learning flourishes, relationships deepen, and schools become places where everyone can thrive.
Finally, we know that educating children is a shared responsibility. Strong schools are built through authentic partnerships among families, educators, local businesses, community organizations, and our many supporters. We are grateful for the trust you place in us each day and look forward to strengthening those relationships throughout the coming year.
On behalf of our Board of Directors and the entire Mary Walker School District team, thank you for your continued support of our schools. We are excited to welcome everyone back and look forward to another outstanding year of learning, growth, and Charger pride.
Have a wonderful remainder of your summer, and we'll see you soon.
